SUMMARY The study of registered deaths since the last war in France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, enables the author to build mortality tables by sex of old people over 85 for each of the above mentioned countries and for all of them together. Compared with similar tables built by P. Vincent for the same countries and the pre-war period, there is a sizeable decline in mortality even for very old ages.
