The short-range order structures of FexGe1-x amorphous thin films (x = 0.087, 0.191, and 0.285%) were studied by X-ray K edge absorption spectrum. The nearest neighbors around a Ge or an Fe atom constitute two coordinate sub-shells with a very short distance. In the two films with lower Fe content, the short-range order structural parameters around a Ge atom are similar to those of amorphous germanium and the Fe atoms in these films substitute for some Ge ones randomly. The local structure of a-Fe28.5Ge71.5 film deviates from a continuous random network and displays a tendency to dense random packing of atoms.
