The research we present has started within an European project Evlang "Eveil aux langues à l’école primaire" (Language Awareness in Elementary School, in English). Our objective is to understand how students interact with the teacher and their pairs in order to construct knowledge and know-how (savoir-faire in French) about languages. We have empirically observed the same lesson in different classes and we have built nine "indicators" which are linked to several exchange dimensions and that may reveal the efficiency of teaching and learning processes.
