The possible invention of digital architectures. Use of images: from a model to the construction

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) has become more and more part of the common architectural practice. Some designers have explored (in the past) different aspects, especially formal ones, allowed by these new information technologies. This paperis goal is to explore the invention that would be specific to this new architectural practice. The hypothesis is to go back to the specificity of the image and to examine its evolution. This analysis will be done with reference to the « cycle of images » of the French philosopher Gilbert Simondon, described by means of stages and levels. This particular way of thinking will allow us, besides an overview of all those images in a genetic diagram, to reveal what can enable the passage from one level to another. We call this: “invention”
