Computer-Aided Design (CAD) has become more and more part of the common architectural practice. Some designers have explored (in the past) different aspects, especially formal ones, allowed by these new information technologies. This paperis goal is to explore the invention that would be specific to this new architectural practice. The hypothesis is to go back to the specificity of the image and to examine its evolution. This analysis will be done with reference to the « cycle of images » of the French philosopher Gilbert Simondon, described by means of stages and levels.
