The effect of sema3E and sema3D expression in glioblastoma cells on the survival of tumor bearing mice:

<p>(<b>A</b>) U87MG cells infected with empty lentiviruses (Control) or with lentiviruses directing expression of sema3D or sema3E were implanted in the brain cortex of mice. Nine mice were included in each group and the effect of the expression of the semaphorins on their survival following implantation measured. (<b>B</b>) U373MG cells infected with empty lentiviruses (Control) or with lentiviruses directing expression of sema3D or sema3E were implanted in the brain cortex of mice. Seven mice were included in each group and the effect of the expression of the semaphorins on their survival following implantation measured. (<b>C</b>) The weight of the mice that participated in the experiments shown in panels C and D was measured on the day at which the cells were implanted and at the end of the experiment or following the death of the mice. Shown is the average ratio between body weight at the start of the experiment and at the end, for each of the groups of mice. (<b>D</b>) Control U373MG cells or U373MG cells expressing sema3D were implanted on the chorioallantoic membrane of chick embryos as described in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0042912#s4" target="_blank">materials and methods</a>.
