<p>Each strain carries a plasmid-borne copy of the <i>A. tumefaciens</i> FtsZ homolog (Atu2086) fused at its carboxy terminus to GFP and under transcriptional control of the <i>P<sub>lac</sub></i> promoter. Expression was induced for 2–4 hours with 100 µM IPTG. 100X phase images were overlain with corresponding epifluorescence images showing FtsZ-GFP localization. Arrowheads indicate FtsZ-GFP localization. Note the aberrant morphology of the Δ<i>pleC</i>, Δ<i>pdhS1</i>, and Δ<i>divK</i> mutant strains. Scale bar = 5 µm.</p
