Delineating the virMtb-specific effects on macrophage glycolysis.

For this the ratio of the synthesis rates of each metabolite in UI versus the infected cells was determined. The mean and S.D. values of these ratios was then plotted to obtain distribution of the GP over time (see <a href="http://www.plospathogens.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.ppat.1004265#ppat.1004265.s011" target="_blank">Methods S1</a>). Points in blue refer to unperturbed UI cells whereas those in red reflect the profile of UI cells obtained upon changing the rate of glucose uptake and DHAP/G3P synthesis (details in <a href="http://www.plospathogens.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.ppat.1004265#ppat.1004265.s011" target="_blank">Methods S1</a>). C. Shown here is the simulated conversion of the GP of virMtb-infected cells into that seen in cells infected with H37Ra. The methodology followed was similar to that described for (B).
