Deletion of regulators disrupts biofilm formation <i>in vivo</i>.

<p>The indicated <i>C. parapsilosis</i> strains were inoculated into catheters in the rat CVC model, and biofilms were visualized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) after 24 hours. Deleting <i>UME6</i>, <i>CZF1</i> and <i>ACE2</i> reduces biofilm formation in comparison to the control strain, CPRI, whereas deleting <i>CPH2</i>, <i>GZF3</i> and <i>MKC1</i> has little effect. <i>BCR1</i> and <i>EFG1</i> deletions were assayed in this model previously <a href="http://www.plospathogens.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.ppat.1004365#ppat.1004365-Connolly1" target="_blank">[18]</a>, <a href="http://www.plospathogens.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.ppat.1004365#ppat.1004365-Ding2" target="_blank">[41]</a>.
