Transmission electron micrographs (TEM) of <i>Pectobacterium</i> spp. and <i>Dickeya</i> spp. bacteriophages ϕPD10.3 and ϕPD23.1 stained with uranyl acetate.

<p>For TEM, bacteriophages were purified four times by passaging individual plaques using soft top agar and IPO2222, Ecc71 and SCC 3193 as hosts. Phage suspensions of <i>ca</i>. 10¹⁴–10¹⁸ pfu ml^-1 in 5 mM MgSO₄ were used. Each photograph represents a typical bacteriophage particle. At least 10 photographs were taken of 10 different bacteriophage particles for each sample and preparation. Bar represents 100 nm.
