Canada's primary conservation law for species at risk of extinction is the Species at Risk Act. The conservation community is well aware that marine fish are rarely listed - and as a result, severely depleted fish stocks aren't getting the protection they need for recovery. But is SARA the right tool for the job, or do we need something designed specifically for the needs of marine fish? I explore these questions in this talk, which I originally delivered at the Canadian Conference for Fisheries Research (CCFFR) in St. John's NL, on January 9, 2016
