Takvimhane-i Amire, which was built for printing of Ottoman official newspaper called Takvim-i Vekayi, was not only an ordinary printing house but also an editorial office of the newspaper. As a basis of existence for Takvimhane printing house, Takvim-i Vekayi can be counted a turning point in history of journalism in Turkey as first official Turkish newspaper which was published in French, Armenian, Greek, Arabic, Persian as well as Turkish.
