The Role of Kampo Medicine in Children(Papers for cerebrating the Forty Aniversary of the Department of Pediatrics, Tokyo Women\u27s Medical University Center East)

We describe here in the pediatric indications for Kampo medicine (Japanese Traditional Herbal Medicine). It is called made-to-order therapy, for the reason that patients are each given a different therapy by sho. The indications for Kampo medicine are as follows: hypofunction in children (lack of energy, pale complexion, dark rings under the eyes, catching cold easily, developing fever easily, low appetite, night sweats, vomiting, diarrhea, etc), tics, crying at night, night terrors, infectious enterocolitis, orthostatic dysregulation, molluscum contagiosa and allergic diseases (atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma).
