The life of Christ, considered as the mystery of salvation, occupies an important place in the writings of Newman. By going through a careful analysis of Newman’s varied written works especially his Parochial and Plain Sermons, one is able to capture his overriding doctrinal concern: the right approach to the life of Christ in a biblical and creedal way. The Christology of the sermons that is very much imbued with the Scriptures and the Church Fathers has led him to rediscover in the nineteenth century England the perennial relevance of the theology of the mysteries of the life of Christ.
