HUBUNGAN ANTARA USIA DAN JARAK\ud KEHAMILAN SEBELUMNYA DENGAN\ud BERAT BAYI LAHIR RENDAH\ud DI RS GUNUNG KIDUL\ud YOGYAKARTA\ud TAHUN 2016

Background: The incidence of LBW will cause various health impacts of\ud the community both after birth and in its development in the future. The death risk in\ud LBW infant is 8 times larger than in normal babies. Death is often caused due to\ud neonatal complications such as asphyxia, aspiration, pneumonia, intra-cranial\ud hemorrhage, hypothermia, and hypoglycemia.\ud Objective: The study aims to determine the correlation between mother’s\ud age and pregnancy interval and low birth weight in Wonosari Regional Public\ud Hospital/RSUD of Yogyakarta in 2016.\ud Method: The study used case control approach. The data were collected\ud using secondary data namely medical record. The study was conducted in April - June\ud 2017. The sampling technique was purposive sampling while the control sampling\ud technique using systematic random sampling. The ratio was 1: 1 in which the case\ud samples were 132 and the control samples were 132. The analysis technique used Chi\ud Square.\ud Result: Chi Square analysis shows that age does not have significant\ud correlation with the incidence of LBW (p value = 0,502) (α = 0,05). Meanwhile, the\ud pregnancy interval has significant correlation with the incidence of LBW (p value =\ud 0.036) (α = 0.05).\ud Conclusion and Suggestion: There is no correlation between the mother’s\ud age and the incidence of LBW, and there is a correlation between pregnancy distance\ud and the incidence of LBW. Suggestion the next researcher is expected to examine other\ud factors that cause the occurrence of LBW
