In the present article the author studies the episode of Jesus\u27appearance before Herod Antipas (Lk 23,8-12), which he considers to be an historical fact. Because of its omission by the other two synoptics and John, the trial before Herod Antipas has often been regarded as a Lucan creation or a legend that arose under the influence of Ps 2,1f. After the study of the text, the author examined the reasons which led some scholars to consider the episode as a story worked up by Luke himself.
