The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disc is a fibrocartilaginous structure located between the mandibular condyle and the temporal bone, facilitating smooth movements of the jaw. The load-bearing properties of its anisotropic collagenous network have been well characterized under tensile loading conditions.
