Surgery is considered to be the standard treatment for intrahepatic malignancies, primary cancers and metastatic lesions. However, a great many patients are not eligible for surgical intervention. Modern stereotactic radiotherapy has the potential to be an effective alternative treatment modality with low toxicity for patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma and liver oligometastases.
