Town planning and nature: two antagonistic notions?

The relationship between nature and urban development seems essentially a conflicting one. In actual fact, every urban development project deliberately originates in a land use choice, to the detriment, in many cases, of the natural space and to the great displeasure of environmentalists and other more or less concerned "citizens / local residents". Without attempting to deny this ongoing conflict, the article endeavours to show how contemporary town planning gives itself the means to transcend this contradiction and make us pass imperceptibly from the "grey city" to the "green and blue city".La relation entre nature et urbanisation semble conflictuelle par essence. En effet, tout projet d’urbanisation procède délibérément d’un choix d’affectation du sol, au détriment, dans bien des cas, de l’espace naturel et au grand dam des environnementalistes et autres « citoyens / riverains » plus ou moins intéressés. Sans chercher à nier ce conflit d’usage trivial, l’article s’attache à montrer comment l’urbanisme contemporain se donne les moyens de transcender cette contradiction et de nous faire insensiblement passer de la « ville grise » à la « ville verte et bleue »
