Summary report of the CGIAR Annual General Meeting (AGM) held October 30 - November 1, 2001 in Washington, DC, CGIAR Chairman Ian Johnson presiding. AGM 2001 was the first general meeting combining the CGIAR's two annually held meetings, Mid Term Meetings and International Centers Weeks. The meeting was divided between a stakeholders' meeting for discussion of major issues, and a business meeting for decision making. Agenda items for the stakeholders' meeting included an Overview of the World Food Situation by IFPRI Director General Per Pinstrup-Andersen, presentation of proposed Global Challenge Programs, and the annual Crawford Memorial Lecture delivered by Nafis Sadik on the importance of population issues.
