Falsafah Tasawuf Islam Dalam Arsitektur Taman Sunyaragi

. Taman Sunyaragi is one of the Indonesian architectural heritage that was built during the golden era of the Islamic culture in Cirebon, West Java. The architecture of Sunyaragi is a mozaic architecture which presenting a combination of many elements of the Javanese-Hindu, Arabic-Islamic and Chinese culture. The purposed question in this research is what are the basic concepts beyond the architectural aspect of Taman Sunyaragi? This study has used a semiotic approach in analyzing the existing architectural forms. The results has shown that the architecture of Taman Sunyaragi is based on the philosophy of Islamic Tasawuf (Sufism) that was taught and developed by the “Wali Songo” or the nine Islamic preacher in Java. The phylosophy has emphasized symbolic values, cultural harmony and trancendental meditation (that was commonly practiced by the sufis)
