FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG BERPENGARUH TERHADAP PRAKTIK MEROKOK PADA REMAJA SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA DI KABUPATEN KUDUS

Smoking cigarettes is a habit that is harmful to health. Cigarretes are known to contain hazardous chemical substances. The substance can bring about various kind of diseases such as lung cancer, heart diseases, stroke, blood vessel obstructions, impotence, miscarriage etc.. According to WHO, Indonesia is the fifth biggest country in cigarrete consumption, This research is intended to find out the that factors which influence the smoking practice SMP and MTs (Junior High School) students in Kudus regency. The research is of the explanatory type with cross sectional approach. This population of the research is as many as 200 students of SMPN IV, SMPN V, SMP Hasyim Ashari and MTS Qudsiyah. The sample of the researce, numbering 131 students, is taken by using the simple random sampling. The research is conducted through questonaires. The collected data than analysed by using SPSS Software for Windows of version 10.0 as well as univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. The result of show that there is no correlation between parent's education level of the students' and jobs of the parents on the one hand and the smoking practice of the SMP and MTs students on the other (p > 005). A significant correlation is found between theiparent habit, the pocket money, the activeness of the students, the students' knowledge and attitude, the parents-children relationship, the students' peer group behaviour and the smoking practice of the studens (p<0,05). The multivariate analysis shows that the attitude and the parents' smoking habit are the main variables that have influence on the smoking practice of the SMP and MTs students in Kudus Regency (p<0,007). Based on this research, is it recommended that school teachers enchance giving guidance to student about the bat effects of cigarret smoking, and impose a stict regulation over smoking upon students, and also ban cigarrete selling whithin the school premises. Parents need to give their children some understanding about the dangers of smoking, should not give excessive pocket money to them, and must give sanctions to their children who smoke. The govermment has to reduce cigarrete advertising and pass alaw against smoking in schools. Merokok merupakan suatu kebiasaan yang merugikan kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi praktik merokok pada remaja SMP dan MTs di Kabupaten Kudus. Jenis penelitian ini adalah explanatory research dengan menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah remaja yang berada di SMPN V, SMPN IV, SMP Hasyim Ashari dan MTS Qudyiyah yaitu sebanyak 200. Sampel penelitan berjumlah 131 orang, dipilih dengan pendekatan simple random sampling .Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan sofware SPSS for Windows versi 10.0 dan menggunakan metode analisis univariat, bivariatdan multivariat. Hasil analisis penelitian menunjukan tidak ada hubungan Pendidikan orang tua dan Pekerjaan orang tua dengan praktik merokok remaja SMP (p>0,05). Sedangkan Kebiasaan orang tua, Uang saku, Keaktifan, Pengetahuan, Sikap, Hubungan orang tua dan anak serta perilaku teman sebaya ada hubungan yang bermakna dengan pratik merokok remaja SMP di Kabupaten Kudus (p<0,05).
