Synthesis and reactivity of Lewis acid/base-stabilized phosphanylalanes and crystal structure determinations

Mechanistic studies on the isomerization of Lewis acid/base-stabilized phosphanylalanes were carried out on Al2P2-rings, and the oligomerization of (CO)5W-PH2AlH2-NMe3 was clarified in detail. Ethyldimethylamine, NMe2Et, was introduced as Lewis base and a new structural motif of phosphanylalanes was obtained. Systems without Lewis acids were shown to possess interesting reactivity and the reasearch was extended to stiba- and bismaboranes. Furthermore, an alane with a N-heterocyclic carbene base was synthesized. In addition to the synthetic results, 132 crystal structures were determined and crucial problems in crystallography have been reported as examples. Hereby, disorder, twinning, space group problems, solvent treatment and a modulated structure were studied
