Culex t01Tentium is reported from Spain for the first time in the summer of 1999 from the region of Cerdanya, province of Girona. Cx. torrentium was associated with Anopheles petragnani, Culiseta longiareoJata, Cs. annulata, Culex impudicus, Cx. hortensis and/or Cx. pipiens. Although different taxonomic characters for larvae and females have been tentatively used to separate Cx. torrentium from Cx. pipiens, only male genitalia can be used as a reliable diagnostic character
