Received 2010-00-00; Accepted 2010-00-00 Abstract: A silhouette based manipulation method was proposed to improve the interactivity in mesh editing. The editing process contains two stages. First, the user selects the area to be edited and then the model is deformed by modifying the silhouette of the selected region. During the editing process, the boundary vertices of the selected region are fixed and the positions of the silhouette vertices are known beforehand via direct manipulation. These can be used as constraints for the editing computation. The objective function is the difference between the differential property before and after editing, with the above constraints, which has to be minimized to reconstruct the region to be deformed...
