“We will spare no effort to free our fellow men, women and children from the abject and dehumanizing conditions of extreme poverty, to which more of a billion of them are currently subjected. We are committed to making the right to development a reality for everyone and to freeing the entire human race from wantÆ We resolve therefore to create an environment- at the national and global levels alike –which is conducive to development and to the elimination of poverty. We are determined to establish a just and lasting peace all over the world in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter We request the General Assembly to review on a regular basis the progress made in implementing the provision of this Declaration, and ask the Secretary General to issue periodic Reports for consideration by the General Assembly and as a basis for further action”
