In the article the modern scientific views on the problem of interpreting musical works are analyzed which is connected with prospective musicians’ performance skills development. The various aspects of the problem of interpreting are disclosed in philosophical and aesthetic research sources, cultural and sociological studies, but the authors make the main emphasis on studying musicological and musical-pedagogical approaches to this problem. In the authors’ opinion interpreting a musical work is a certain degree of its understanding, perception and aesthetic evaluation.
