A two-phase system containing the ternary mixture bu-tanol/diisopropyl ether/plasma in different proportions yields ordered delipidation of a-lipoproteins, pre-/3-lipo-proteins, and /3-lipoproteins in plasma, as quantitated by densitometry after electrophoresis. As a conse-quence of delipidation the electrophoretic mobilities of pre-3-lipoprotein and 3-lipoprotein increased, that of a-lipoprotein decreased.
