Abstract

In the diploma work entitled The Sculpture, Man and Word I explore the practices of the modern and the contemporary art. The theoretical part begins with sculpture, wire and iron as materials and with the artists that have been active within this particular field. These artists are Picasso, Gonzalez and Calder in the 1920s and 1930s, and David Smith at the turn of the century. I continue by taking a look at the following practices: readymade, fluxus, performance and conceptual art.
