Abstract

International audienceThis article questions the origin and the continuity of mobilizations in Cairo, a decade before the revolutionary event. It is taking a particular interest to the new fate of poor neighbourhoods (also described as informal). The two authors develop a very converging analysis: what has to be taken into consideration is more the crystallization of a feeling of injustice than misery. This feeling of injustice finds some explanations in previous mobilizations, be it associated with work claims, housing or more largely, justice.
