Le bore, sous forme d'acide borique, est un fongicide et un insecticide faiblement toxique pour l'environnement et les mammifères. Sa solubilité naturelle le rend apte à traiter le bois, mais la protection apportée est de courte durée du fait de son lessivage. Le but de cette étude est de créer, dans le bois, un réseau polymère naturel et non toxique, capable de retenir le bore, sous forme d'acide borique. Des tanins condensés ont été associés à l'acide borique, mais n'ont pas diminué significativement la déplétion du bore lors du lessivage. Par contre, des protéines (ovalbumine, caseines, farines de soja, gelatine) réagissent véritablement avec le bore via leurs groupements peptidiques, et, en gélifiant, forment un réseau protéique retenan...
