peer-reviewedAfter Francisco Franco‘s dictatorship (1939-75) a new chapter in the history of Spain opened. The end of the regimen and the subsequent process of democratisation implied obvious changes in the political and social arena, which had immense and progressive effects on Spanish society and its dynamics. From the 1960s women started to take action to recover their rights, dramatically lost under the Francoist regime. Literature written by women is parallel to the development of the feminist movements in the country and the progressive modification of women‘s role in society.
