Historically, attaining high performance in image processing has always been a challenge since 1960s. With newer and more advanced technologies in fabrications of electronic components, implementations of image processing systems have also evolved from traditional PC based platform into dedicated hardware acceleration methods in order to meet the increasing industrial demands for higher performance.
