This article discusses the theme of the form in Raízes do Brasil from its 1936 issue. To interpret it, we searched for contribution in authors who had confluence with modernism in Brazil and other countries. Our main reference was Nietzsche. We believe this article is successful in showing the links between Holanda’s approach in aesthetic-expressive directions, the adjustments and dissonances between form and content, culture and State in Brazilian history in times of Empire and Republic.
