The analytical and computational models of the \u201cdamped cable system\u201d, recently proposed among the advanced seismic protection technologies of building structures, are presented in this paper. The basic analytical relations of the former, and the special finite element assemblage reproducing the sliding contacts between cables and floors, for the latter, are examined. The dynamic responses of the two models are then compared with reference to a demonstrative case study, represented by a four-story reinforced concrete frame
