Most common morphological variants of thyroid tumors in Latvian Oncology Center

Ievads: Vairogdziedzera vēzis ir izplatīta ļaundabīgā endokrīnās sistēmas slimība, un tās sastopamība turpina strauji pieaugt. Lielākā daļa vairogdziedzera vēža tiek atklāti agrīnā stadijā, un tie veiksmīgi padodas terapijai. Aktuāls jautājums, ir kuri no pacientiem ar vairogdziedzera vēzi var droši izvēlēties mazāku ārstēšanas apjomu, lai samazinātu terapijas blakusparādības. Pētījuma mērķis: Apskatīt biežāk sastopamos vairogdziedzera vēža morfoloģiskos variantus Latvijas Onkoloģijas centrā (LOC) laika posmā no 2019.-2021.gadam. Materiāli un metodes: Pētījuma “Vairogdziedzera vēža biežāk sastopamie morfoloģiskie varianti Latvijas Onkoloģijas centrā” ir retrospektīva analīze, un tās ietvaros tika noskaidrots pirmreizēji Rīgas Austrumu klīniskās universitātes slimnīcas “Latvijas Onkoloģijas centrā” stacionēto vairogdziedzera vēža pacientu profils, audzēja raksturojums, tika apskatīti dažādi vairogdziedzera vēža morfoloģiskie varianti, iegūti un analizēti dati par pielietoto ārstēšanu, noskaidroti svarīgākie raksturojošie parametri un novērtēta to savstarpējā saistība. Dati tika ievākti no Rīgas Austrumu klīniskās universitātes slimnīcas “Latvijas Onkoloģijas centrā” 80 pirmreizēji diagnosticēto vairogdziedzera vēža pacientu slimību vēsturēm. Rezultāti: Apkopojot pētījuma rezultātus tika noskaidrots raksturīgākais vairogdziedzera vēža pacienta profils. Tas bija: 49,4 gadus veca sieviete, ar diferencētu vairogdziedzera vēzi (DTC), konkrēti papillārā vairogdziedzera vēža (PTC), klasiskā subtipu, bez reģionālo limfmezglu iesaistes vai attālām metastāzēm. Secinājumi: Saslimstība ar vairogdziedzera vēzi sieviešu vidū ir aptuveni trīs reizes augstāka nekā vīriešiem visā pasaulē. Vairogdziedzera vēzis var rasties jebkurā vecumā, bet pētījumā tika konstatēts, ka pieaugot vecumam, kopumā pieaug vairogdziedzera vēža incidence (p = 0,048).Introduction: Thyroid cancer is a common malignancy of the endocrine system and its incidence continues to rise rapidly. Most thyroid cancers are detected at an early stage and are successful in treatment. The question is which of the patients with thyroid cancer can safely choose a less of treatment to reduce the side effects of the treatment. Aim of the research: To look at the most common morphological variants of thyroid cancer at the Latvian Oncology Center (LOC) in the period from 2019 to 2021. Materials and methods: The study "The most common morphological variants of thyroid cancer in the Latvian Oncology Center" is a retrospective analysis, with an aim to find out the profile of the thyroid cancer patients hospitalized for the first time at the Riga East Clinical University Hospital "Latvian Oncology Center", find out the incidence of different morphological variants of thyroid cancer, also the data on the applied treatment was obtained and analyzed, the most important characteristic parameters were clarified and their interrelation was assessed. Data was collected for the history of 80 cases of new diagnosis of thyroid cancer patients at the Latvian Oncology Center of the Riga East Clinical University Hospital. Results: Summarizing the results of the study, the most characteristic profile of a thyroid cancer patient was determined. These were: A 49.4-year-old woman with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), specifically papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), a classic subtype, without regional lymph node involvement or distant metastases. Conclusions: The incidence of thyroid cancer among women is about three times higher than among men worldwide. Thyroid cancer can occur at any age, but the study found that the overall incidence of thyroid cancer increases with age (p = 0.048)
