The effectiveness using of rubrics in social studies lessons

Rubrik, öğrencilerin çalışmalarını ölçmek için kullanılan özgün bir değerlendirme aracıdır. Öğrencilerin performanslarını tek bir puanla değerlendirmektense bir ölçüt silsilesiyle değerlendirmeyi amaçlayan bir puanlama rehberidir. Bir rubrik, ödeve/ürünü oluşturmaya başlamadan önce hem öğrenciler hem de öğretmenler için çalışmanın açıklanması ve değerlendirilme ölçütleri ile ilgili bilgi veren bir çalışma rehberidir. Bu bağlamda bu araştırmada sosyal bilgiler derslerinde rubriklerin kullanımının etkililiği araştırılmaktadır. Bu etkililiği belirlemek amacıyla ön test ve son test karşılaştırmalarının yapıldığı yarı deneysel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak elde edilen bulgular sosyal bilgiler dersinde rubriklerin etkili bir değerlendirme aracı olduğunu göstermiştir.A rubric is an authentic assessment tool used to measure students' work. It is a scoring guide that seeks to evaluate a student's performance based on the sum of a full range of criteria rather than a single numerical score. A rubric is a working guide for students and teachers, usually handed out before the assignment begins in order to get students to think about the criteria on which their work will be judged. İn this context, this study investigates the effect of rhe rubrics’ using in social studies lessons. In order to determine the effectiveness, pretest-posttest comparison design of quasi-experimental method was used. As a result, the findings showed that the rubrics are very much effective tools for assesment
