Evaluation of the difficulty of the questionnaire items and the level of selected general knowledge in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Cíl: Popsat vyhodnocení obtížnosti položek dotazníku a úrovně znalostí u pacientů s diabetem mellitem 2 typu. Metody: Sběr dat probíhal v období 08–11/2018 pomocí dotazníku s ověřenými psychometrickými vlastnostmi určeného pro českou populaci. Z výsledků získaných od 226 pacientů byla hodnocena obtížnost položek dotazníku pomocí výpočtu hodnoty obtížnosti Q a identifikovány položky s nejnižším znalostním skóre. Výsledky: Hodnoty obtížnosti položek se pohybovaly v rozmezí 0,24-0,77. Znalostní skóre se pohybovalo v rozmezí 23 % – 76 %. Z výzkumného šetření vyplynulo, že největší nedostatky ve znalostech mají nemocní o nutričních doporučeních v oblasti DIA potravin a symptomech hypoglykémie. Nejvyššího znalostního skóre bylo dosaženo u položky zjišťující, zda si člověk s diabetem může poškodit dolní končetiny, aniž by to cítil. Závěr: Úroveň znalostí respondentů lze hodnotit jako dobrou. Výsledky získané z průzkumného šetření budou sloužit ke zkvalitnění edukace osob s diabetem mellitem.Aim: Describe the evaluation of the difficulty of the items of this questionnaire and its level of knowledge in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: The data collection took place in the period of 08-11/2018 using the questionnaire with verified psychometric properties and designed especially for Czech population. From the results obtained from 226 patients, the difficulty of the items of the questionnaire was evaluated by calculating the value of difficulty Q and identified items with the lowest knowledge score. Results: The difficulty values of the items ranged from 0.24-0.77. Knowledge scores ranged from 23% to 76%. The research showed that patients have the greatest knowledge gaps about nutritional recommendations in the field of DIA food and the symptoms of hypoglycaemia. The highest knowledge score was achieved for an item determining whether a person with diabetes can damage his/her lower limbs without feeling it. Conclusion: The level of knowledge of the respondents can be assessed as good. The results obtained from this survey will serve to improve the education of people with diabetes mellitus
