Globally, 1.25 million people die each year and about 50 million people are injured from road traffic injuries (RTIs). Currently, RTIs are the ninth leading cause of global deaths, and, unless addressed, are predicted to become the seventh leading cause of death by 2030. About 90% of the global burden of fatal RTI is borne by low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) despite only having half of the world's registered vehicles, with vulnerable road users accounting for majority of these victims
