In connection with a project concerned with inhibition of the biosynthesis of glycosyl phophatidylinositol (GPI) anchors, we had occasion to synthesise the unsaturated (1?6)-imino-linked carba-disaccharide 2 having the `A-manno' configuration, which was also tested as a potential inhibitor of A-D-mannosidase and other glycosidases. The results of these tests and a synthesis of 2 are reported herein
