1216-1219[1-(N-substituted amino) methyl]-2-ethyl benzimidazole derivatives 1-10 have been synthesized by the condensation of 2-ethyl benzimidazole with substituted primary and secondary amines. Their structures have been elucidated by UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data. Among the synthesized derivatives 1, 2, 8, 9 and 10 are found to have an effective anti-inflammatory response whereas compounds 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 have potent analgesic response. There is no significant difference in bioactivity of benzimidazoles derived from secondary and primary amines. All the experimental data were statistically significant at P<0.05 level
