Mrs. Khanh Ta-Le was born on March 10, 1965 in Phan Rang, Vietnam. She came to America at 24 years old in 1989 through the Family Reunification Program, sponsored by her father. She had a comfortable childhood before the Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975 when she was 10 years old. Afterwards, she lived in poverty. In Vietnam, she finished high school but was unable to attend university. She talks about how her life drastically changed after the Fall of Saigon, and how she coped with being separated from her father when he was in re-education camp and when he left Vietnam by boat.
