Calcium phosphate cement (CPC) is a mixture of an aqueous solution and powder contains calcium phosphate compounds. The advantages of CPC in comparison to other bone grafts are adaptability to bone defect, in vivo hardening, and biocompatibility. The disadvantage of CPC is its low mechanical strength. The setting and hardening of CPC are caused by the entanglement of precipitated apatite crystals. Solutions containing phosphate ion are usually used to accelerate setting reaction.
