The association between learning styles and preferred teaching styles

Although the hypothesised constructs of learning styles and teaching styles have been studied separately, the association between the two has not yet been identified. The study used survey responses from 272 undergraduate students' preferences to identify the links between student self ratings of their learning styles and their preferences for teaching style. Results indicate that learners with a dominant reflector style are influenced by their perceptions of the teaching style of the teacher or lecturer. Implications for this result are targeted at lecturers, teachers and other educators.
