Traducción de un recuerdo de infancia: Galb, los minairons y tú

Treball de fi de grau en Traducció i InterpretacióCatalan and Spanish are two interrelated languages that coexist in Catalonia influencing and interacting with each other constantly. Based on this statement, this paper is focused on bringing this pair of languages closer by analysing its similarities and interferences through a translation, avoiding the occurrence of mistakes caused by the formal reflection between the two languages involved in the process. The complexities involved when translating a concrete literary genre also concern the translation procedure. Based on these reasons, this paper intends to achieve a translation of a book maintaining the content, the expressiveness and the intention of the original author. Hence, with the purpose of achieving this, a children’s book named Galb, els minairons i tu will be translated from Catalan into Spanish. Consequently, the peculiarities of children’s literature will be evinced with this work. In order to obtain satisfactory results, a series of different vocabulary samples will be extracted during the translation procedure and they will be organised into categories to discuss them, comparing the original version with the target translation. The results show that it is possible to solve translation problems due to languages in contact and a concrete literary genre when the translator has the tools, and both the linguistic and extralinguistic competences which are required. Also, it has been possible to show that a translator is generally able to transfer both content and form to obtain then a genuine result in the target language. Nevertheless, it is important to consider that in case it is not possible to keep both, form will always be omitted taking precedence to the content
