Le changement climatique: où en sommes-nous?

Greenhouse gases (GHGs), naturally part of the atmosphere, have protected us from severe glaciations in the past. Today, human activities increase GHG concentrations and cause rapid and unprecedented Earth warming. Climate change is not resume only to warming, water cycle is also changed. All the research confirms: the climate is changing fast, too fast for ecosystems and societies to adapt. Despite the alerts of the international scientific community, States gathered into Conferences of the Parties (COP) ratify agreements but do not comply with all their commitments. Public opinion polls indicate that climate change is perceived as a risk, but jobs and taxes override environmental concerns. However, there are local GHG reduction and adaptation initiatives. Territorialized approach, on one hand, and global science and negotiations, on the other hand, are two complementary paths that will allow us to consider the impacts of climate change with a new form of solidarity.Les gaz à effet de serre (GES) présents naturellement dans l’atmosphère nous ont par le passé protégé de fortes glaciations. Aujourd’hui les activités humaines augmentent les concentrations de GES et provoquent un réchauffement rapide et inédit. C’est aussi l’ensemble du cycle de l’eau qui est modifié. Toutes les recherches en témoignent : le climat change vite, trop vite pour que les écosystèmes et les sociétés puissent s’adapter. Malgré les alertes de la communauté scientifique internationale, les États rassemblés en conférences des parties (COP) ratifient des accords mais n’honorent pas tous leurs engagements. Selon les sondages d’opinion, le changement climatique est perçu par comme un risque mais l’emploi, les impôts et taxes supplantent les préoccupations environnementales. Pourtant des initiatives locales de réduction des GES et d’adaptation existent. Approche territorialisée et science et négociations planétaires sont deux voies complémentaires qui permettront d’envisager les impacts du changement climatique de manière solidaire
