This project involves the design, fabrication, assembly, testing and marketing of a formula-style race car to be entered in a collegiate design competition sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Nine distinct groups were assigned primary responsibility in the following areas: frame, suspension, drivetrain, steering, braking, engine, manufacturing, body, interior/ergonomics and electrical. Utilizing computer and experimental analyses, the major design goals of each group were simplicity, light weight, aesthetics, manufacturing cost and performance. The vehicle was also designed to have a prototype cost of $11,000 and a selling price of $8,000 based on a 1,000-unit production per year
