AbstractLet G be a finite abelian group, and let m be the maximal order of elements in G. It is shown that if s>m1 + log|G|m, then any sequence a1, …, as of elements in G, has a on-empty subsequence which sums to zero. The result is a consequence of an inequality for the finite Fourier transform
