The power of Community in Scholarship

The poster describes and evaluates the development of a blended (online and face2face) community of researchers. As a form of voluntary workplace engagement, communities of practice are characterized in literature as an organic, informal entity with the potential to support collaboration, knowledge building and sharing. The author shares the examples of initiatives of the Research Consortium (RC) in support of various aspects of scholarly communication, from “Open Science” Write Day to the series of workshops and webinars on measuring and enhancing research impact. Through a synthesis of findings based on surveys, bibliometric and citation analysis, the focus groups, the poster identifies paradigmatic shifts in the ways researchers see their role in scholarly communication.
