The thumbnail images can be extracted from the H.264/AVC bitstreams directly without inverse transform into spatial domain. However, it has some difference caused by rounding of the floating point operation and it will be propagated to next blocks. In this paper, we propose an error compensation method for thumbnail generation process considering error propagation. It determines the compensation value using the error distribution of each intra-prediction mode and gives the weighting factor to cover the error propagation.This work was supported by the Brain Korea 21 plus Project in 2014
