Study of prevalencia and bacteriological identification of subclinical mastitis in the high zone of state Mérida

Se aplicó CMT (California Mastitis Test) a 8.466 muestras de leche provenientes de cuartos individuales de un total de 2.117 vacas Holstein, Jersey y alto mestizaje, procedentes de 12 fincas ubicadas en el municipio Campo Elías, considerando todas las vacas en producción de cada finca a excepción de aquellas con menos de 30 días y con más de 250 días en lactancia. La prueba diagnóstica utilizada (California Mastitis Test) siguió las normas cubanas NC-78-11-25, (1987) para la obtención de las muestras y la NC-78-11-17, (1983) para la realización de la prueba diagnóstica. Se manejó un indicativo epidemiológico denominado Índice de Mastitis Subclínica (IMSC), el cual considera todas las vacas que están en lactancia y excluye los pezones que presentan mastitis clínica para el momento del muestreo y los pezones ciegos o disfuncionales. Los resultados obtenidos arrojaron un índice de 1.81, encontrándose muy elevado si lo comparamos con 0.5 que es lo deseable para este tipo de ganadería. Se realizó análisis microbiológico a un total de 36 muestras de leche provenientes de los tanques (3 muestras por cada finca en estudio), en el 100% de las muestras analizadas se observó la presencia de colonias sospechosas de salmonella y S. aureus, La prevalencia general de mastitis subclínica estimada por el CMT, considerando las reacciones positivas = 2, fue de 35,2% indicando que esta proporción del rebaño evaluado presenta pérdidas en la producción de leche que están por el orden de 16 a 24.5 % y se pudo determinar que los cuartos posteriores son mas susceptibles a sufrir la enfermedad.39-48suniagaj@ula.vejavierh@ula.veanualIn order to determine the prevalence of subclinic mastitis in the high zone of Merida, were evaluated 8.466 milk samples from individual quarters that came from a group of 2.117 Holstein, Jersey cows and with a crossbreeding of both types. These cows belong to twelve different farms situated in the Campo Elias Municipality. For this study were considered all the cows coming from the different farms, except those that had less than 30 days and more than 250 days in nursing. The diagnostic test used was the California Mastitis Test. It was used the Cubans norms NC-78-11-25, 1987 for collecting the samples and the NC-78-11-17, 1983 for developing the diagnostic test. For the study was used an epidemiologic indicative called Subclinic Mastitis Index (IMSC). This indicative considered all the nursing cows and excluded the cows with bind nipples that present clinic mastitis in the moment of collecting the samples and the blind nipples or dysfunctional. The results showed an index of 1.81, founding this index higher, if it is compared with 0.5 that is the appropriated for this type of livestock. Were evaluated 36 milks samples from milk tank from twelve described farm (3 milk samples by each farm). The result indicated that 100% microbiological analyzed samples were infected with salmonella sp. And S. Aureus by culture growing. The prevalence of the mastitis cases was of 36,2, considering that quarters that showed positive reactions =2%, considering that quarters that showed positive reactions =2, indicates that the production of this herd presents lost in the milk production that is considered among 16 to 24.5% and it allows determining that posterior quarters will be more susceptible to the disease
